Fellow Citizens,

Here is an invaluable source of historical resource (albeit from a Yankee slant) for y'all.

SCV News Blog Up and Running

There is a new way to keep up to date with SCV information as soon as it becomes available. SCV news is now blogged at www.sonsofconfederateveterans.blogspot.com

From this site, you'll see all the information flow that pertains to you as an SCV officer and member, often before you see it in the Gray Line, the Confederate Veteran, the scv.org website or even here. Also, this site allows us to post information that is of wide interest, but perhaps doesn't qualify for distribution to our entire mailing list, and also allows us to give more detailed information on things you see here.

Some features of the blog are:

Searches

If you remember there was a posting about something, say an event in Georgia, but don't remember when it was posted, you can just search on "Georgia" and all posts with that word will come up. The search box is in the upper left hand of the page.

Polls

We'll occasionally run polls on SCV questions.

Subscribing

Perhaps the most important feature of the site. By subscribing, you don't have to go to the site to see new posts; they will be delivered to you instantly as they happen. At the bottom of the page you will see "Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)". Click on the link and you'll be taken to the subscription page. This is an RSS subscription for those who like computer jargon. From here you have several options for delivery of the messages. You can have it delivered to your home page on Google for instance, so that any time you open your home page, the latest posts will be there. Or you can have the subscription go to your email inbox. Later versions of Outlook are set up to accept RSS feeds. For more information on how to set this up in Outlook 2007, click here.
